Panhard 17 BT Relmax S (1964)

Always a pleasure meeting such a car. Strange, expensive when new and out of the schemes. The Panhard PL17 with its aerodynamic shapes is genuine genius, but like often happens to this kind of production, it got quite hard times to be understood.

This red car from the @milanoautoclassica fair is a post restyling car from 1964 in the hi-level Relmax S version powered by the enhanced “Tigre” engine providing 50HP. A top class PL17!

Note that in this post restyling cars the name has been changed from PL 17 to 17 B and is one of the last “17” made as in 1965 Panhard introduced the new 24 after being incorporated by Citroën.
Glorious and peculiar car

BMW 503 Coupé (1957)

Just to remind that the good times are often preceded by bad times, here a great BMW 503 Coupé, a wonderful and unlucky car that lead the brand to the eve of bankruptcy.

BMW 503 Coupé (1957) – Gran Premio Nuvolari 2019 #214 – © Ciclootto.it

Designed by Albrecht von Goertz (also creator of the 507) this ambitious car, has terribly suffered the competion with the Mercedes SL series ending up with only 413 cars made.
This is a 2019 Gran Premio Nuvolari pic shot on the beautiful Tuscany hills. I remember I was in the middle of the race time check and there was no time to take a better shot of this rare car.

Jaguar E-Type FHC (1965)

This set of photo is somehow a real cliché. Brit car in BRG color and even a cloudy sky over the head.

The only thing that doesn’t match is that this is a Florentine square.
Here we’re back in 2018 for the great @modenacentoore classic and this wonderful FHC 1965 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 was waiting for the departure to the Mugello Circuit for one of the event’s leg.
Classic color, classic weather, super classic car!

Alfa Romeo GT Junior Zagato (1971)

Another great Ercole Spada creation for Zagato, the GT Junior Z didn’t get too much attention in its days.

Alfa Romeo GT Junior Zagato (1971) - © Ciclootto.it
Alfa Romeo GT Junior Zagato (1971) – © Ciclootto.it

Produced from 1970 till 1974 in two series and 1600 pieces, it retains the Alfa Spirit of the classic GT Junior with some typical Zagato addictions, beginning from the chassis, derived from the Spider that allowed a better masses centering and a lighter body (due to the stiffness of the structure).
Made in the 1300 and the more rare 1600 version (only 402 pieces) this 1971 car is part of the more common 1.3 liters engine production in the classic Giallo Zagato Ar117 color. So happy that this car is gettin’ more interest in this last years.

The Classic Car Challange – Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0

This is one of most underrated versions of the classic 911, as it is often appealed as the “Turbo without the Turbo”

Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 (1975) - © Ciclootto.it
Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 (1975) – © Ciclootto.it

Powered by the 930 engine (obviosuly without the turbocharger), the Porsche Carrera 3.0 delivers 200 HP and despite being a lowered version is considered by many as more pleasant than the Turbo, avoiding the turbo-lag effect (even if here we have 60HP less than the blowered one!).

Red painted, this 1975 car was a contender at the Coppa della Collina Storica race in Pistoia and is a great clean looking car: no wings, no Carrera sticker on the side (an option on this model), simply 911!
IMHO one of the few cars where the shock absorbing bumpers don’t look ugly 😉

The Classic Car Challange – Fiat 1500 Cabriolet Pininfarina

Classic and beautiful. These Fiat Cabrio designed by Pininfarina are a superb family of cars made from the end of the 50s till the middle of the 60s.
One of those cars you can instactly place in time,

With styling concept that we can find even in the Peugeot 404 Coupé and Cabrio (another Pininfarina project), it’s always a pleasure finding on of these as they remind of an era that is celebrated everywhere as asome sort of new Renaissance in the Italian history.

Caught at the last Arezzo Classic Motors (an exibithion usually held up in January that I hope will be there in 2021) is presented in the super classic red color like the most of them I got the chance to see

The Classic Car Challange – Lancia Aurelia B10

Happy to show you one of the finest post-war Lancia, the beginning of a great story and dinasty of cars.
The Lancia Aurelia B10 is the first sedan of the Aurelia series.

Powered by the V6 1.8 liters engine, this fine car was present at the @mautotorino booth at the Automotoretrò fair in Turin in early 2020.
As part of the #tccchallenge game, a lot of you guys answered with the “lower” sister Appia. I knew it could be misleading because the front reminds the tiny one 😌

The Classic Car Challange – Renault-Alpine A110 1400

The new version of the Alpine A110, shown in 2017 has a nice side effect of having an Alpine booth in every historic cars’ fair.
So many more occasion to spot the original classic, a rally masterpices that is always a pleasure to meet.

This one, in yellow is a fine 1400 version (guess is a Spanish FASA production car but I’m not that good in Alpine cars to tell) and I’ve to tell you, I love the non blue Alpine! Yellow is great and remember: #yellowmakesitfaster 😉

The Classic Car Challange – Saab 96 V4 (1976)

The introduction of the Saab 96 V4 has been a big upgrade from the two strokes version in the Swedish brand lineup.

What didn’t stopped was the involvement of Saab in Rally races where even this latest evolution continued to work well.
At my eyes seems quite obvious that this 96 was an old product in late 70s (original version was born in 1960) but it remained on sale till 1980. An implicit confirmation of the good fame of this Swedish car!

The Classic Car Challange – Citroën GSA X3 (1980)

The small CX is a real underdog. This is a second series, late model GS, the GSA, a bit heavier in design with the classic 1980s “plastic” evolution of the bumpers, seen on many other models.
Anyway the aerodynamic design created by Robert Opron is still fresh and charming.

Citroën GSA X3 (1980) - © Ciclootto
Citroën GSA X3 (1980) – © Ciclootto

Powered by the 1.3 liters 65 HP engine, this one, in the X3 version looks great.
One of the last versions of this car before the introduction of the BX (that anyway has been sold for many years togheter with the GS)
