A fine son of the Citroën/Maserati partnership, the Merak owns a body derived from the bigger Bora with a wonderful solution crafted by Giugiaro for the rear with the two side arch at the back following the V6 engine. That engine is a straight parent of the Citroën SM unit, but in this 1980 car it has been shrinked to have a under 2000cc displacement to avoid the “heavy” VAT: at that time cars over 2 liters got the 38% VAT in Italy
With that treatment, the Merak 2000 GT (the commercial name of the car) got 170 HP.
Some differences on the body let you determ that this is the small one, like the black strip on the side and the black (not chromed) front bumper.

Needless to say, this is the rarest version of the Merak, with 190 pieces made, but probably, in this case the low production numbers don’t really determ a bigger quotation😁
